In addition, Fyling Hall’s Deputy Head, Dr Richardson, explains how we are awarding GCSEs and A Levels this year.
After School Clubs & Competitions
To bring a distraction to the pupils’ week we are running a selection of after school activities and competitions. These will provide a different focus and experience whilst at home, as well as some fun. This week we start with our Art Studio‘s Art Leaders’ Lockdown Club Creative, Mr Thomas’ Latin Club and Frau Trotter’s Duolingo German Competition.
Lockdown Club Creative
Fyling Hall’s Art Leaders have thrown down the art gauntlet. Looking for a creative challenge? Join the Lockdown Club Creative and try one of their challenges.
Latin Club
Taking on a new and revised format to counter these unusual circumstances in which we find ourselves, Fyling Hall Latin Club will reconvene during Tuesday’s Twilight Session. So whether an old Fyling Hall Latin scholar or someone completely new to the whole thing, email Mr Thomas at c.thomas@fylinghall.org to register your interest – this is open to all students at the school, young and old, junior school and senior school.
Duolingo German Competition
Fancy learning a modern language? Try Frau Trotter’s Duolingo German Competition . . . anyone can take part! Current German students, non German-studying pupils and staff as well. Each week something is added to this box of wonders . . . awarded to the overall winner!
Mental Health & Wellbeing
Have you tried KOOTH? KOOTH is an app which can be downloaded directly on your phone. It is staffed by trained counsellors and is very user-friendly.
You can also try ThinkNinja. Their new Covid-19 content provides an opportunity for young people to explore:
- Fears relating to the virus
- Isolation struggles and how to stay connected to family and friends
