Sports

Sport is integral to life at Fyling Hall and we have an outstanding reputation, past and present. Not everyone can match the recent success of Fyling Hall Old Pupils’, Jamie Noon and Rachel Bamford, in representing England, but all our students are encouraged to achieve their personal best. The challenge, teamwork and sheer fun of the sports field help young people develop confidence and self-discipline – the foundation for a healthy, well-rounded adult life.

The main school sports for the boys are rugby, football, hockey, basketball, cricket and athletics and for the girls hockey, netball, tennis, rounders and athletics. All these sports are delivered as part of the school day using our excellent facilities and coaches. Pupils can also opt for horse-riding as one of their weekly sports lessons with an additional charge.

Sports facilities

Our sports facilities are excellent and are a focal point for school life. We offer a spectacular rural setting for outdoor sports and activities. Extensive playing fields for rugby, hockey, football, cricket & athletics, with a full-size, all-weather (astro) pitch.

Huge, sprung-floor sports hall with climbing wall. Equipped for indoor badminton, volleyball, tennis, basketball, netball, football, cricket, weight training.

Recreational grass tennis court in school, and access to superb hard courts nearby. All year round basketball practice area.

Fyling Hall has eight mountain bikes and access to numerous bike trails.

Pupils can travel by school mini-bus to the nearby swimming pool, and for boarders to take part in external sports clubs. All junior school pupils take part in weekly swimming lessons and sixth form students regularly visit the nearby gym.

Plus 47 acres of private wooded grounds for circuit and fitness training and cross country. Pupils even visit the nearby beach for the occasional cricket or rounders game!

Sports Club Links

Fyling Hall has strong links with local sports clubs. This means that pupils have the opportunity to continue playing their sports of choice outside of school. This may be recreational, at a higher level or within adult clubs.

For seniors there is a strong link with the local leisure centre and weekly trips to the centre in order to use their extensive facilities.

Stables & Horse-Riding

Fyling Hall has 5 star rated on-site stables with 8 horses and ponies for all ages. Horse-riding lessons take part in the surrounding countryside, on the beach and in an arena which is marked out in one of the fields. Learn more about horse-riding.
