Our pupils have the opportunity to try a range of sports. Our small size means that we don’t offer quite the range of a big school, but keen young sportsmen and sportswomen who might not be selected for outside competition in a larger establishment have more chance here of experiencing the thrill and honour of representing their school. All pupils are expected to support the school and their friends by taking part in fixtures if they are selected, but we do leave every other weekend free of fixtures to help those with outside interests to be able to continue with them, and many matches are scheduled for week days.
We train hard, we play well – and we win. Even though we regularly compete against sides from schools twice and more our size, our commitment, determination and team spirit have earned us a ‘David and Goliath’ reputation for victories against the odds. The record of our sporting results below shows just what we achieve.
We are also proud that so many of our pupils are selected to represent District and County. Perhaps it isn’t surprising that some of our Old Boys and Girls have gone on to make sport their profession.
We compete against other schools in:
Rugby, Tennis, Athletics, Basketball, Rounders, Cross-Country, Netball, Swimming, Football, Hockey (indoor & field) Cricket, (indoor & field) Riding. In addition, recreational sports with internal competition: Badminton Five-a-Side Football Table Tennis
Volley Ball. Plus all-year-round circuit and general fitness training.
