“Better by far than the professionals and the film; the best acting I have ever seen” Jack Dudley
“All the cast worked fantastically, it was massively enjoyable. Bravo! 10/10” Joe Buchanan
Fyling Hall students presented the all-singing, all-dancing ‘Grease’ last week. The cast was mostly Years 5 to 9, with students from Year 10 and 11 in supporting roles and a troupe of 6th form dancers. Music was played live by Mrs Wormald supported by an enthusiastic group of backing singers.
“Grease was so much fun, we all enjoyed performing. It was really useful to get an insight into what acting would be like!” Isabella Clements (Sandy)
Asa says “I got a kick out of it”
“I was really proud to perform. I gained lots of experience and I loved every minute of it. I would happily do it again” Reece Glossop Jones (Roger)
Performing a school show is hard work. With lots of lines to learn and long rehearsals, commitment is a must. Aaron loved scaring Miss Rowland because he only just learnt his lines and cues; Miss Rowland thinks it has aged her by 10 years! But being in the show is something the students will never forget. For many students this was their first time performing for a live audience, this can be really nerve wracking.
“One of the best experiences of my life and the first time I have had an important part in a play with a live audience. Just amazing” Jaime Miralles (Doody)
Miss Rowland says, “I was incredibly proud of all the students who took part, on stage and in the wings. They worked tirelessly as a team and created a fantastic performance. I laughed, I cried, I danced; a brilliant run of shows! Well done!”
The group became very close with students from Year 7-9 acting together, they all became friends. “I think the reason why I found it so fun and natural; was because I was supposed to be hanging around with all my friends in the play. But I was already hanging out with these friends in real life! I didn’t want it to end!” Susannah Gaffney (Rizzo)
We can’t wait till the next show!
