Focus on Sixth Form

We are delighted with last week’s a Focus on Sixth Form.   Current Fyling Hall Year 11 & 10 parents and students attended the evening held on 15th November.  The objective was to navigate through the daunting process of choosing a Sixth Form.

Meet Your Teachers

There was hardly room to stir as A-Level teachers offered practical insight into the Russell’s Group ‘facilitating’ and ‘specialised’ subjects; the best option for university entry. With the support current sixth formers, examples of work were available whilst teachers gave insight into the practical applications of their designated subject.  The passion demonstrated was clear for all to see!

Decision Making Factors

Mr Allen then introduced a panel discussion of the various factors influencing your decision on where to study.  Dr Richardson and Mrs Park emphasised our added value, a key feature of which we are particularly proud. The result of our added value is A-Level results places us as one of the top performing schools in the area in terms of progress made from GCSE.  As a former student and now Head of Music, Miss Johnson spoke to our class sizes, an important factor in Upper Sixth student, Ethan Bortoff’s, decision to return to Fyling Hall.

Having been a student at Fyling Hall since Year 7 Ethan initially craved a larger school environment.  He soon realised that his studies were best supported by Fyling Hall’s small class sizes and superlative teacher-access.  In closing, Mr Allen gave insight into to Fyling Hall’s evolving enrichment programme.  All of these factors of course, emphasise the success we have in helping our pupils to fulfil their potential ready for the next stage of their journey.

Yet greater insight into current Sixth Form life was kindly given by current Sixth Formers and alumni . . .

Thank you to all who attended!  If you were not able to attend and would like further information, please do let us know.
