Cultural Trips
One of the highlights of the calendar for many is the biannual London Cultural trip that takes place over a long weekend. The trip includes a busy few days visiting the theatre, galleries, museums and historical places of interest in our capital and is a very popular event with all of our pupils. There are many cultural trips that take place a lot closer to home too: visits to local galleries and exhibits as well as historical sites such as Whitby Abbey and Fairfax House in York are just some of the visits that take place.
In school, cultural events are often organised to celebrate important dates in the calendar for other countries, and these are often led by the students themselves. We recently celebrated Oktoberfest in order to welcome some of our new staff and pupils. Miss Dopp, our German teacher who originally hails from Germany, was helped by a team of willing helpers to organise a festival of ‘oompa’ music, traditional German food and a presentation from our German students about the festival, its origins and traditions.
