Founded in 1980, the Fyling Hall PTA is run by a committee
which currently consists of twelve parents and six teachers.
Their self-designed brief is to support the Headmaster
and Governing Body by whatever means necessary.
Over the years, amid the discos, dinners and duck races
- and balls, cake stalls and coffee mornings - this
support has included the borrowing of a lorry to transport
an entire wooden building from the far side of the county
to the school grounds. More recently, PTA members
were found up ladders with paintbrushes during the refurbishment
of the Sixth Form Common Room, and driving support vehicles
with food for horses and riders during the 120-mile
sponsored trek to Cumbria.
And they do not only raise money for the school.
Together with the students, the PTA chooses and supports
a different charity each year.
