Community Events and Activities

Here at Fyling Hall, we believe pupils become inspired to be better citizens when they take an active part in the communities in which they live. Pupils are given the opportunity to join school councils and this helps to inform them about how and why whole-school decisions are made in a range of areas such as school food, charity fund raising and the school council. Older pupils are also given responsibilities within the school that encourage them to be proactive and conscientious.

Fyling Hall also takes an active role in the local community. We organise regular charity concerts where pupils are given the opportunity to perform alongside local artists and friends of the school, including ex pupil Eliza Carthy MBE. These events take place in either our fully equipped theatre, our outdoor amphitheatre or in local venues such as the Whitby Spa Pavilion and local village halls. Our school choir visits local retirement homes and we regularly raise money for local charities, such as The Finlay Cooper Fund.

Our pupils also take part in annual local community events and competitions such as the famous Eskdale Festival, Musicport and Whitby Youth Speaks debating competition and we have strong and established links with the local church communities in our area.
