All students at Fyling Hall are encouraged to play an active role in supporting charitable causes. We feel it is important for pupils understand the work of charitable organisations and to gain a true feel for the value of the work they carry out. The charities we support are selected by the pupils in consultation with the staff. Through pupil led assemblies or guest speakers, the whole school is educated about the charity we are supporting which provides a personal motivation for each child.
Each year group is tasked to organise fund raising events and they are encouraged to be imaginative and fun. This year we have already had cake sales, Christmas jumper day, a Halloween ghost walk, a Harvest collection for the local food bank, a sponsored silence, a junior school musical production of MacBeth and two music charity concerts.
Congratulations to all the members of the school who managed to raise £1,524 to go to the very deserving local charity The Finlay Cooper Fund. Their work with local children in memory of Finlay Cooper the son of the founders is a charity that has inspired our pupils and we hope the money will help to change someone’s life.
